ASEED at the Degrowth Conference: Creating Networks of Solidarity in Food and Farming

August 26, 2021 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Workshop (online), co-organized by TNI, ASEED, Toekomstboeren & Voedsel Anders

In this session, we open up the black box of ‘solidarity’ as one of the key principles of degrowth and stimulate a conversation on the different meanings and interpretations solidarity can have. The realm of food and farming comes with a lot of inequalities but also provides countless opportunities to practice solidarity, which can include researchers, farmers, migrants, and consumers. Thus, we will look at how different projects practice solidarity in the context of food and farming and we will reflect on the different meanings of solidarity in the different contexts. How can we be inspired by these projects and become active ourselves?. We hope to end the session with some concrete ideas for taking action so that solidarity does not remain an idea or concept but we can collectively find ways to practice it, to contribute to a degrowth society. Projects that will be presented during this session include the Landbouwbrigades Belgium, Agroecological Research Collective, CSA Cityseeds, and a collaborative project between the Wereldhuis and De Meetboerderij.
