‘RESPONSIBLE SOY’: DON’T BUY THE LIE
The ASEED soy campaign is targetting Albert Hein as the largest Dutch supermarket chain involved in greenwashing toxic soy. Monday June 27 is Supermarket Action Time in Amsterdam. Meeting on 17u under the railway bridge on the corner of Prinsengracht/ Haarlemmer Houttuinen. Don’t miss it! Actions will be continued between 4-10 July at local Albert Hein stores in Wageningen, Groningen, Nijmegen and Antwerpen. Let us know if you feel like organising an action against your local AH, or are in need of ‘made with toxic soy’ labels. Supermarket stickeractions are also taking place in England and Denmark. The Round Table of Responsible Soy is a large group of companies plus the World Wildlife funds and some dodgy NGO’s that created a ‘Responsible Soy’ label for toxic GM-soy. ASEED is actively trying to expose the dirty soy business through media exposure and by directly addressing consumers through picket lines, leafletting, banners and stickering actions.

On June 6th 2011 was the official launch of the Responsible Soy’ label, celebrating the first Dutch ‘Responsible Soy’ deal. It was a curious occassion in a Rotterdam backstreet, where ‘People-Planet-Profit!’-ranting entrepeneurs, Brazilian megafarmers and glyphosate pushers could share their joy with the press. Voice of dissent was represented by ASEED in- and outdoors, displaying a banner at the  entrance, leafleting, talking to press and having discussions with participants. more on: https://www.aseed.net/soy and http://www.noticias.nl/soja_artikel.php?id=2740

Last Wednesday 15 June was the first RTRS stickering action at an AH supermarket in the centre of Amsterdam. Video report: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZG49GnuTD-A

German documentary unravels ties between the World Fund for Nature and the industry. “Huisman documented that the WWF helps dubious companies to obtain “sustainability certificates”. The association is working on “round tables” with genetic engineering companies such as agriculture giant Monsanto and the multinational Wilmar. A must see video! GLYPHOSATE: QUESTIONS IN EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT
A new report shows that industry studies do not prove the safety of glyphosate but rather confirm that the weedkiller causes birth defects in laboratory animals. The admission of glyphosate into Europe was due to be reviewed in 2012. But last year the Commission delayed the review until 2015: full report:

PIG SCANDAL IN THE NETHERLANDS
In the past weeks a group of free range video-activists paid secret visits to industrial pig farms on 26 different Dutch locations. The stables included large organic and ‘comfort class’ stables, but also megastables of prominent farmers like the chairwoman of the pig farmers organisation. Sadly choked, dead, injured, dirty, stressed and sick animals were found in each class of pigstable. On June 20th the report was published, the gruesome images went all over the press and online and on frontpages of the AD national newspaper. Some 14 million(.. ) pigs are locked away and hidden in the Netherlands.

STOP PRESS PIG ACTIVISM IN GERMANY – June 29
Straathof wants to continue building his megastable in Alt Tellin, Germany. Building process came to a halt due to serious controversy about the stable for 65.000 pigs (producings 250.000 a year). On June 29 a mass protest is planned, blockading the building site and more. There is a protest camp close to the site. More info:

BELGIUM: WETTEREN FIELD LIBERATION AFTERMATH
An intense discussion and media debate on GM, the privatisation of education and scientific research has been going on since a few hundred activists attacked a field with GM potatoes in Belgium on May 29, 2011. One Leuven University researcher lost her job after expressing sympathy for the action. There is an online petition for her reinstatement and on June 28 a support demonstration in Leuven for academic freedom.

DON’T MENTION THE CLIMATE !!!
Our friends Tannie and Stine from Climate Justice Action/Climate Collective Denmark have been sentenced to two months jail and two months probation plus legal costs resulting from their arrests during the COP 15 (Copenhagen Climate Summit 2009). It is an outrage. Both of them were totally committed to the non-violent direct action of the Peoples Assembly and it seems to me that the Danish police needed to have a couple of scalps to justify their extraordinary behaviour during the COP15. ASEED took part in Climate Justice Action and the actions in Copenhagen in 2009.

Extreme drought or not, thanks to EHEC this spring's harvest of
cucumbers, paprika and tomatoes went straight into a eurogarbage
gazpacho, enough to fill a lake. But never mind the inevitable
industrial food-system meltdown: Here is SEEDMAIL June 2011 delivering
the goods.
