– Yara also uses this justification to spread their poison in the Global South, where farmers are pressured into synthetic fertilizer dependence.

– The “regenerative agriculture” that Yara promotes depletes the soil, only increases crop yield for a limited time before creating a dependence on synthetic nitrogen fertilizers, drastically decreases biodiversity both in the soil and surrounding environments, and leaves farmers trapped and indebted.

Echte regeneratieve landbouw komt voort uit en wordt geleid door mensen van kleur, kleinschalige boeren uit het Globale Zuiden, en voedselarbeiders, niet door grote agrochemische bedrijven uit het Globale Noorden.
Regeneratieve landbouw probeert de dynamiek van een natuurlijk ecosysteem na te bootsen en houdt geen rekening met monocultuur of chemische input voor bemesting.
Er is geen pasklare aanpak, aangezien deze zich aanpast aan de lokale omgeving en gemeenschap.
Agrochemische bedrijven zoals Yara streven naar het tegenovergestelde: controle over elk aspect van de natuur om de opbrengsten te maximaliseren en de winst te vergroten.

Hoewel Yara een verhaal van urgentie gebruikt om “de wereld te voeden”, hebben we niet echt een voedseltekortcrisis, we hebben een voedselprijscrisis – en de kunstmestindustrie profiteert enorm van onze huidige hogere kosten van levensonderhoud.
Yara gebruikt deze rechtvaardiging ook om hun gif te verspreiden in het Zuiden, waar boeren onder druk worden gezet om afhankelijk te worden van kunstmest.
De “regeneratieve landbouw” die Yara promoot, put de bodem uit, verhoogt slechts gedurende een beperkte tijd de gewasopbrengst voordat ze afhankelijk wordt van synthetische stikstofmeststoffen, vermindert de biodiversiteit drastisch, zowel in de bodem als in de omliggende omgevingen, en laat boeren in de val lopen en schulden maken.
