25th of March will we have our montlhy ASEED reading group again. Due to the exceptional situation we are currently facing, the reading group will happen ONLINE.

This time we will specifically go deeper into the topic of veganism in relation to organic farming. Veganism is an often promoted lifestyle to be sustainable/ ethically just, on the other hand we see that lots of organic farms use non-vegan fertalizers or use animals in different ways and promote this as a sustainable/ethically just way either. We will try to gain a better understanding of the environmental and ethical arguments for/against using animals in organic farming and have a discussion about it.

Chapter 8 –Opinion paper: The role of livestock in a sustainable diet: a land-use perspective (p. 170-173)

Natural living–a precondition for animal welfare in organic farming (p. 71-80)

Vegan organic horticulture – standards, challenges, socio-economics and impact on global food security (p. 1-10)
